This is an outstanding attraction of Krakow - a balloon with an observation deck securely tied to the ground. The deck can hold up to 30 people and ascends up to 200 meters. The flight is a unique and exciting experience which is not easily forgotten. "Taking a bird-eye view of Krakow, you can admire a medieval town plan - a thing rarely visible in other cities of Europe. When you rise over the roofs of the Old Town you can see a chequered distribution of the streets which today are surrounded by the remains of the fortifications." " The view helps to imagine a fascinating 13th -century stronghold town surrounded by 3 kilometres of walls with 47 towers. One could get to the town through one of eight main gates. Just one of them has survived throughout the years. The walls used to protect not only people but also priceless gems of architecture." Technical data Number of passengers: 1-29 The number of passengers depends on the wind force, temperature and atmospheric pressure. The pilot observes changing parameters during the previous flight and on the basis of that he decides how many passengers can take part in the next ascend. Maximum wind force during the flight: 12,5 m/s (24 kts) (44,5 km/h) Gas: Helium - 5900m3 The surface of the balloon is filled in approximately 90% with helium which has a very high, 99,995%, purity level. Helium is a high quality gas. It is unreactive, non-flammable and fully secure. The first airships were filled with easily flammable hydrogen. Today it is illegal to fill balloons with this gas.
