This is a unique resort situated in the central Małopolska (the southernmost part of the country), about 35 km from Krakow, on the edge of a Landscape Park. The 2.5 kilometer tourist route runs at the depth of 290 meters. The salt mine in Bochnia is the oldest complex of that sort in Poland. It has been operating continuously for 750 years and carries out the oldest production works in Europe. Today, the salt mine in Bochnia is open to the public and invites tourists and locals alike into its underground world. Here you can stroll along the 300-metre-long winding maze of corridors and chambers , which have been forged after years of mining . In Bochnia you can observe miners at work and enjoy many other attractions apart from the museum. For instance, you can visit Wazyn, the salt mine's biggest chamber measuring 50 meters in length and 10- 12 meters in width. The chamber is equipped with beds, pillows, and sleeping bags. (The Wazyn chamber is available at request).
